Analysis and improvment of security services schemes in EPON system

This paper firstly analyzes various types of potential network structure targetted attacks in Ethernet Passive Optical Network(EPON), such as passive monitoring, denial of services(DoS), masquerading, and theft of service(TOS). Based on the analyzing results, an authentication scheme based on ECC public key algorithm and CCM-AES authentication encryption algorithm will be illustrated and then we evaluate our scheme by the OMNet simulation framework. Ultimately, a comparison between our scheme, which indicates the authentication and encryption method, and other works is presented to measure the performance. From the comparison, the results demonstrate the efficiency of the indicated security scheme also meets the security requirement of the EPON's non-renouncement.
